One City One Book Launch Day

Ansary’s memoir West of Kabul, East of New York has been selected by San Francisco for its One City One Book program this year. The program will be launched with an event at the San Francisco Ferry Building from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a city bookstores tour and a celebration from 5:30 to 6:30 in the Mission District at a venue to be named later. An Evening of Fundraising
Friday, September 19, 7 to 10 pm
Ansary delivers an address at “Reason For Hope,” an evening devoted to raising funds for the Amin Institute in Kabul, Afghanistan, a project to help some of the roughly 2 million orphans in the country rebuild (or merely build) lives. Hosted by CSU professor Farid Senzai, the evening features a buffet dinner, a children’s program, and interviews with Kabul street children taped by Afghan filmmaker Affandy Yacoob. Ansary will speak on the past and future of Afghanistan.
